AC/DC's Malcolm Young dies at 64 with dementia

AC/DC's Malcolm Young dies at 64 with dementia

Malcolm Young's wife, Linda, did not immediately issue an individual statement after the AC/DC rocker died on Saturday.

His brother George died just weeks ago at the age of 70. His razor-sharp production cast the band's inherent melodicism into an even greater light, and the album was an global hit that over the years has sold more than 7 million copies in the US alone.

In an additional statement to Australia's SBS, the band said that Malcolm Young died peacefully Saturday with his family by his side.

"He was older than me - I always looked up to him", Angus Young said of his brother in an interview past year with Rolling Stone Magazine, saying he was "always one to battle through". "He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever".

"He took great pride in all that he endeavoured".

George Young, another brother to Malcolm and Angus, died on October 23 at age 70. The album became the band's first record to break the U.S. Top 100 and is the bands second highest selling album, behind the 1980 hard rock classic "Back in Black".

Sunny & Cool Friday, Rainy & Windy Saturday
Early morning Black Friday shoppers may indeed need the winter gear, with a morning start ranging from the upper 30s to lower 40s. Highs will remain in the 50s Sunday under sunny skies, and lows will drop below freezing Sunday night into Monday morning.

"His loyalty to the fans was unsurpassed", he wrote.

But it was the 1979 studio album, "Highway to Hell", that propelled the band to hard rock fame.

The post continued, "As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life, the bond we had was unique and very special". Singer Brian Johnson joined the band in Scott's stead; when Back in Black was released, it went to No. 4 on the Billboard album chart, and eventually sold 22 million copies in the US alone.

Its influence on the burgeoning heavy metal scene of the 1980s can't be understated - their songs have been covered by hundreds of artists including Guns N' Roses, whose Axl Rose filled in for Johnson on a 2016 AC/DC tour - but less obvious was the influence it had on other forms of music.

Known for the powerhouse riffs and rhythm guitar that propelled the Sydney group to superstardom, Young had been suffering from dementia for the past three years.

AC/DC also paid tribute via their Facebook page.

Google Maps To Launch Brand New Design
Google has announced that it is revamping Maps to make it easier to understand and use. These design changes are rolling out to Google Maps now.

In April of 2014, AC/DC announced that Young would be " taking a break from the band to ill health", without disclosing the nature of his illness; in September of that same year, the band revealed that he had dementia.
