Tesla Pickup Truck Shown During Semi Reveal

Tesla Pickup Truck Shown During Semi Reveal

Commercial production is planned to start in 2020.

Rocketing from 0-60 miles per hour in a mere 1.9 seconds looks as ridiculous as it sounds, as swarms of Tesla Next Gen Roadster reservation holders soon found out after experiencing "Maximum Plaid" mode in real life at the semi-truck unveiling event.

Tesla revealed an all-new version of its Roadster sports vehicle that can go from a stop to 60 miles an hour in 1.9 seconds, a figure that would make it the fastest-accelerating production auto ever.

The four-seater convertible boasts a 200 kilowatt-hour battery pack and a 620-mile range, as well as three motors, all-wheel drive, and torque steering.

The Classification of 'High Blood Pressure' Just Changed
Systolic pressure is the pressure that freshly pumped blood exerts against the muscle walls of the artery during a heartbeat. If the upper blood pressure readings vary by 30-40 between doctor visits, the researchers say, that's a big red flag.

"Reserving Tesla trucks marks an important step in our efforts to implement industry-changing technology", J.B. Hunt President and CEO John Roberts said in a news release.

He added that the overall cost of ownership for the truck would be 20 per cent less per mile than its diesel equivalents, concluding that it would be "economic suicide" for truck companies to continue using diesels. A 300-mile version will also be available.

Tesla shares are up 4.07% to $325.22 on Friday after the company announced its new semi truck and surprised investors with a new Roadster vehicle.

Tesla has unveiled its first articulated electric lorry with production due to begin in the United States in 2019.

Just like it has built a global network of "superchargers" for its passenger EVs, Tesla plans to build a network of "megachargers" around the world for trucks refuelling on the go, with the powerful plugs able to deliver 400 miles of charge in less than 30 minutes. Torque sensors on the individual wheels, along with software that can correct steering, will make jackknifing impossible, Musk said. The figure assumes a diesel price of $2.50 a gallon versus 7 cents/kWh for electricity and a maximum load traveling at an average speed of 60 miles per hour. Without Tesla's promised fast-charging, even a mid-sized truck would likely require a two-hour stop, cutting into companies' efficiency and profits, says Brian Irwin, managing director of the North American industrial group for the consulting firm Accenture. "Every truck we sell has autopilot as standard", said Musk.

But truck drivers may still have some reservations. Tesla is still having issues getting the Model 3 up and running, plus the new Model Y crossover is expected soon. In addition, he surprised everyone with the debut of an updated Tesla Roadster.
