The film Padmavati that is slated to release on December 1 stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.

The Mumbai Police on Thursday stepped up the security of actor Deepika Padukone after the Shri Rajput Karni Sena threatened physical harm to the actor if she did not refrain from "inciting public sentiments", a senior officer said. And, he has the support of Kshatriyas from Gujarat. Karni Sena activist Mahipal Singh Makrana said, "Rajputs never raise their hands on women".

The group called for a nationwide bandh on December 1 if Padmavati is released. We do not have an option as we had first requested the filmmakers not to go ahead with the movie, then wrote letters and even took the legal way. "We have regressed", she said, commenting on the hullabaloo the movie is causing pre-release. There are around 33.31 lakh Kshatriyas in the State, which is about 5% of the total population.

Ironically and interestingly the Supreme body for the Rajput community is Rajput Sabha Bhawan, not Rajput Karni Sena and filmmakers are trying their best to convince them and make a smooth way for their film release.

The Rajasthan Women's Commission has also written to the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) to ensure that the honour of women "is not adversely affected" in the movie.
