Nathan Peterman replacing Tyrod Taylor as Bills QB

Nathan Peterman replacing Tyrod Taylor as Bills QB

The Bills announced Wednesday that they made a decision to bench starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor in favor of Nathan Peterman, taking many by surprise.

McDermott initially said after Sunday's ugly loss that Taylor would remain the starting quarterback, but the head coach has changed his mind.

Taylor has a 20-18 record since taking over as the Bills' starter in 2015. After the blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints, they've decided to make a change. "Tyrod's our starter that's what I said yesterday", McDermott said in a Monday press conference.

Giants owners throw support behind Ben McAdoo for rest of 2017
They can't score: They haven't put up more than 24 points in 15 consecutive games, including January's playoff loss at Green Bay. Sunday's game was on the road, and it's probably best for McAdoo that it was.

That Beane and McDermott promoted Peterman to No. 1 at so important a junction in their first season in Buffalo qualifies as a huge surprise. It's not Peterman's fault he's getting this chance and if I'm him, I'm definitely not turning this down.

Starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor had a terrible game. But ultimately it's a team game and we didn't get it done today. I know what Tyrod has done and I also know what Nate has done. "We're not playing well, from (Tyrod Taylor) to me, guys up front, other playmakers, we're not playing well". "They want to just win when nobody's around". Both had been long-time assistants at their positions on the Carolina Panthers until Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula handed them the keys to Buffalo's football operation earlier this year. RB LeSean McCoy has had four games where he rushed for less than 50 yards this season. The jury's out on what boost trade-deadline acquisition Kelvin Benjamin can bring to the Bills' sputtering passing attack; in Sunday's loss, the former first-round pick caught three passes for 42 yards. Clay sat out practice Wednesday, but that was for maintenance purposes.

In defending his decision Wednesday, McDermott said his goals were higher than simply making the playoffs this season. DE Jerry Hughes left last week's game with a shin injury and he did not practice Wednesday.

4th person killed in Tampa area in possible shooting spree
Police described the suspect as a light-skinned, black male with a thin build standing between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall. A Tampa Police Department officer was in the area when the shots were fired and immediately went to the shooting scene.

Is the switch to Peterman permanent for 2017, or just a one-game experiment?
