Corey Kluber Wins Cy Young, Beating Out Red Sox Ace Chris Sale

Corey Kluber Wins Cy Young, Beating Out Red Sox Ace Chris Sale

Max Scherzer just joined an awfully exclusive club featuring some of the greatest pitchers in baseball history: three-time Cy Young Award victor.

Overall this season, Scherzer led the Senior Circuit in strikeouts (268) and WHIP (0.90) while going 16-6 with a 2.51 ERA (177 ERA+) in 200 2/3 innings.

Entering mid-August, Sale's record was 14-4 with a 2.51 ERA and he still led the American League field. A three-time Cy Young Award victor, he has finished in the top five in each of the last seven seasons.

Finishing second was three-time Cy Young Award victor Clayton Kershaw.

The Strategy Behind South Korea's Outreach to Southeast Asia
Xi reportedly said he would try to visit, and that in case he is unable to attend he will send a high-level delegation instead. By agreeing on Moon's visit to Beijing in December, the first step is now seen as having been achieved.

Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen finished fifth overall with two third-place votes, five fourth-place votes and six fifth-place votes.

Scherzer is the sixth NL pitcher to win the award in consecutive seasons.

He won the 2017 award with 28 first place votes and 2 second place votes.

Gio Gonzalez placed third with 18 points, giving the Nationals three of the top six NL Cy Young finishers. Scherzer's Nats teammate, Stephen Strasburg, finished third in the NL voting. Strasburg missed almost a month from the second half of July into the middle of August, but he was arguably the best pitcher in baseball after his return. He led Major League Baseball in wins (18), ERA (2.25), ERA+ (202), WHIP (0.87), K/BB (7.36), and WAR (+8.3).

Duterte: PH supports Japan's stance vs North Korea
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr Turnbull said the threat posed by North Korea and its leader Kim Jong-un was a key topic. Abe, Trump and Turnbull all underscored the importance of maximizing pressure on North Korea and fully implementing U.N.

Workload was a separator for Scherzer, as Kershaw and Strasburg had been limited by injury to 175 and 175 1/3 innings pitched, respectively. But just like Kluber and Scherzer, he ended his year with a thud. But over the course of his final 23 starts of the regular season, Kluber posted a 1.62 ERA with a.175/.213/.283 opponents' slash.

Kluber was named the American League Pitcher of the Month in June after a strong showing following his return from the disabled list.

Kluber topped Sale in what turned out to be a two-man race.
