Essential Phone Oreo update released in beta

Android Nougat, that had a share of 17.8% last month, now has a share of 20.6%. Presumably these are the ones responsible for keeping Gingerbread, released in May 2010, and Ice Cream Sandwich from October 2011 still on Google's Android version distribution chart. This chart is an indication of what version of Android is running on how many devices in the market in terms of percentage.

Android Oreo comes with numerous enhancements over the Android Nougat such as faster booting, extended battery life by cutting down on unnecessary activities of apps in the background, more fluid experiences to phones and tablets as well as improvements in security via Google Play Protect that checks suspicious activities and malware in applications. As for why uptake is slowing, Luu deduces that there could be three possible explanations: Android growth is slowing, device turnover is slowing and/or fewer devices are receiving updates.
