Magazine names Colin Kaepernick 'Citizen of the Year'

Colin Kaepernick may be called many things, but those are just a couple of new labels being thrown his way, courtesy of GQ magazine.

Magazine scraped the bottom of the barrel to choose its 2017 Citizen of the Year.

While the National Football League and some of its more conservative fans have been less than supportive of Kaepernick's cause, many of his friends spoke to the men's publication about what the former San Francisco 49er's protest means to them.

There are some who share GQ's opinion that Kaepernick would've been picked up had he not begun the protest. "It cost him his job", the article reads. Apart from his perfectly poised coils, Kaepernick also wears a simple black leather jacket and turtle neck that serve as a powerful backdrop for the GQ logo highlighted in unifying colors of red, white and blue.

Kaepernick still remains unsigned after opting out of his contract with the 49ers in March. He posted a message on Twitter, saying he was "honoured' by the recognition".

He had also taken a dig at the BJP leadership alleging that the decision to bring down rates was keeping the Gujarat elections in mind.

Brushing aside the issue of racism, Trump, the current United States president, told Kaepernick in August 2016 to "find a country that works better for him".
