Supreme Court rejects plea seeking stay on Padmavati release

Supreme Court rejects plea seeking stay on Padmavati release

The minister added he would not allow the screening of the movie in the state. Ever since the film, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, went on the floors, it has been in trouble, what with the sets being demolished twice over and even the director being attacked. "Has the film been placed before the censor board?".

The court said it could not intervene since the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was yet to decide about its certification.

The court said there were several guidelines for the CBFC to grant certification to a movie and, in addition, there was the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal to examine grievances over a film.

Padmavati's 'Ek Dil Ek Jaan' Accentuates Shahid-Deepika's Royal Love
Padmavati began its promotions by releasing one poster at a time, with the beginning of the festival of Navratras. Deepika's Ghoomar dance in its first song also impressed everyone. " Shahid Kapoor brought that with him".

"Padmavati" is slated to release on December 1, and there is brouhaha over it as various organisations have been targeting the filmmaker for distortion of history in the movie, touted as a "historical drama".

A delegation consisting of members from the outfits which took part in the demonstration later submitted a memorandum to the Maharashtra government, through the district collector, seeking a ban on the controversial film.

After hearing the arguments, the Court was of the view that the petition is premature as the prayer sought is the exact responsibility of the Censor Board under the Cinematograph Act, 1952.

Takei's accuser said the actor befriended him when he was working as a waiter and beginning a career as an actor and model. Brunton claims he met Takei at a bar when he was 23, and says they exchanged numbers and spoke from time to time.

Declining to go into the merits of the matter, the bench said the petitioner has another forum where he could appeal for his grievance.
