Remember the craze of Pokemon Go?

As you can probably expect, Potterheads are PUMPED about this upcoming release.

Relatively few details have been provided at this point about the forthcoming game, except that it will involve players learning spells before exploring their neighbourhoods to search for mysterious artefacts and fight "legendary beasts" with the option to team up with others to "take down powerful enemies". The choice of HBO as the streaming home also makes sense, given that Harry Potter is a Warner Bros. property, and both HBO and Warner Bros. are owned by Time Warner cable.

An exact release date has not been confirmed, but it will be out sometime in 2018. The game, which is AR in nature, will be developed by Niantic Labs, which happens to be the brains behind the hit mobile game, "Pokemon GO".

Potter fans have been told they will have to wait until next year to discover more.

The developers of the massively successful game Pokemon Go are releasing a new Harry Potter-themed follow-up. Players will move through their physical world to collect power-ups and defend locations (presumably, similar to Pokémon Go's gym system).

Niantic says the game will leverage the full stack of its platform while giving it the opportunity to create new technology and gameplay mechanics. Looks like we'll be starting our new year with old friends. "Stay tuned to our social channels for updates as we work to bring this game to life".
