Mitt Romney says Alabama's Roy Moore is 'unfit for office,' should resign

State Rep. Ed Henry lashed out at Roy Moore's accusers and Republicans who said the U.S. Senate candidate should back out of the special election in an interview Thursday evening with The Times.

In an extensive report published Thursday, The Post detailed the allegations against Moore by the then-14-year-old and three other girls who were between the ages of 16 and 18 when they said the incidents occurred.

Roy Moore's brother is defending the GOP Senate candidate "to the hilt" amid the escalating controversy over allegations of sexual misconduct against him, according to CNN correspondent Martin Savidge, who spoke to the brother on the phone.

Moore said that he did recognize some of the women's names in the Washington Post report but could not remember if he had ever gone on dates with him.

The woman, Leigh Corfman, says Moore met her several times when he was a local prosecutor in his 30s and at one point drove her to his home where he touched her over her underwear and guided her hand to touch him over his, the Post reported. Even before the sexual abuse accusations became public, Senate Republicans had been asked repeatedly about Moore's more extreme positions on the proper role of the Christian faith in American political life.

Last Islamic State town in Syria falls
Pro-government media say Syrian troops and allied fighters have completely encircled the last Islamic State-held town. The two groups had been making significant gains against IS in their respective countries in recent weeks.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell added, "If these allegations are true, he must step aside". He faces Democrat Doug Jones in a special Senate election on December 12 to replace Jeff Sessions, who is now United States attorney general. Odd lost to Moore in the Republican primary runoff.

"However, the president also believes that if these allegations are true, Judge Moore will do the right thing and step aside", she said, as Trump arrived in Vietnam on his 12-day Asia tour.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) called for Moore to "immediately step aside", without any of the qualifiers used by many of his colleagues.

"I dont know Ms. Corfman from anybody, I've never talked to her, never met with her..." Going forward, the committee's fundraising will benefit Moore's Senate campaign, the Alabama Republican Party, and the Republican National Committee but not the NRSC.

TripAdvisor adding risk of assault, other safety issues to reviews
She claims she left under the guise that the hotel would be pursuing a case against her alleged attacker. Site officials said the policy changed to allow more descriptive reviews, including crime.

It's the distance that would matter to the state Republican party, and more so for the national party. The seat previously belonged to Jeff Sessions, who's now serving as Trump's attorney general in Washington.

Alabama political strategist David Mowery, who has worked for candidates of both parties, said the chance of Moore bowing out of the race was "less than zero", and that it was nearly as improbable for state party officials to abandon him in favor of a last-minute write-in candidate. In the event of a win by Jones, the slim Republican Senate majority could get even slimmer.

Harris, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, endorsed Moore in September ahead of Alabama's Republican primary runoff.

On his Senate campaign website, Moore said he was suspended "for upholding the sanctity of marriage as between one man and one woman".
