Mystery surrounded the story of Campos after he spoke to ABC News, telling them that he was "just doing my job" when he approached Stephen Paddock on the 32nd floor of the hotel, where the shooter had amassed an arsenal of 23 guns in what he had turned into a sniper's nest.

Paddock killed 58 people and left almost 500 concertgoers wounded.

Two weeks after the deadliest mass shooting in modern us history, the man who helped police track down the active shooter is speaking out in full detail for the first time. "Just healing mentally and physically", he told DeGeneres.

Hickey said he learned from another union member who was in the meeting that Campos was taken to Quick Care health clinic. That implied Campos' landing didn't concur with the finish of the 10-minute flood of gunfire out the windows. He found it was blocked by a metal bracket, and he called hotel security to send up a building engineer. He thought people were working in the area.

Suddenly, Campos said, "I heard rapid fire".

In his interview, Campos appeared nervous as he recounted the sequence of events that led him to Paddock's room. First I went into cover. I felt the burning sensation. I went to go lift my pant leg up and I saw the blood.

Las Vegas cop Larry Hadfield, an office representative, said Tuesday that media worries in regards to Campos' whereabouts weren't frustrating the examination.
