Federal Bureau of Investigation uncovers history of Russian nuclear bribery during Obama's presidency


A USA investigator who worked on the case told The Hill "legitimate national security concerns" were never publicly aired until it was too late to prevent the deals from going through.

Controversy about the Uranium One deal has brewed for years with revelations that Bill Clinton collected hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees in Russian Federation while his wife led the department involved in approving the deal. The report also indicates Russian officials routed millions of dollars to the U.S.to benefit the Clinton Foundation-then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was largely responsible for the Uranium One deal receiving US regulatory approval.

In October 2010, the State Department and the Committee on Foreign Investment (which Hillary Clinton served on) approved the partial sale of Uranium One, a Canadian mining company, to Russian nuclear company Rosatom, which resulted in Moscow controlling more than 20 percent of America's uranium supply. Rather than hyperventilate over Facebook ads and Twitter trolls, perhaps Congress and the current Department of Justice should look into what the Federal Bureau of Investigation found in 2009-10, how much of it benefited Bill and Hillary Clinton - and why the DoJ and the Obama administration never briefed the intelligence committees on this Russian collusion operation.

The uranium story played a role in the 2016.

The DOJ was investigating the scheme at the time the deal went through and didn't bring charges immediately. After he pleaded guilty, a federal judge sentenced him to four years in prison and ordered him to forfeit $2.1 million.

The Department of Justice then filed charges against Vadim Mikeren, a director of Rosatom since the early 2000's.

Mikerin was arrested and charged in 2014.

Sessions said that decision would be Rosenstein's to make, although he said he hoped that he would consult senior Justice Department ethics officials.
