Polestar Targeting Tesla With Next Two Products

Polestar Targeting Tesla With Next Two Products

The first production auto will be the Polestar 1, a hybrid 600-horsepower two-door, four-seater hybrid coupe, with just above 90 miles of pure electric range.

These include Polestar 2 - a saloon in late 2019 that "will join the competition around the Tesla Model 3" - and Polestar 3, which is a larger SUV EV "sitting between Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 in terms of volume and pricing".

The Polestar 1 will be built upon Volvo's Scalable Platform Architecture that debuted in 2014 on the XC90, however around 50 per cent of the platform will be brand new and bespoke to the performance vehicle brand.

The gas-hybrid powertrain will provide a total of 600 horsepower.

The car's all-electric range is an industry-best (-for-hybrids) 150 km (90 miles) and the technology built into the auto incredibly impressive; standard are carbon-fibre body panels, rear-wheel torque vectoring, and Öhlins' all-new Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension system. That means a measly two-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine coupled with a pair of electric motors generating 218 hp and providing easy torque vectoring for the rear axle.

Facebook acquires tbh, an anonymous compliment app for teens
Facebook is once again making the headlines as the giant has acquired a new tbh app which focuses on the US Teens. They are building community and allowing people to share in ways that bring them closer together.

Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar, said: "Polestar 1 is the first auto to carry the Polestar on the bonnet". The vehicle also packs a carbon fiber body that helps to reduce weight while also improving the car's torsional rigidity and center of gravity.

Volvo has said that all its auto models launched after 2019 will be electric or hybrids, making it the first major traditional carmaker to set a date for phasing out vehicles powered exclusively by the internal combustion engine.

And in a move that may take Volvo traditionalists by surprise, the auto won't be built in Sweden, but Chengdu, in central China. Every Polestar will be sold via monthly subscription, on a two- or three-year contract.

"Polestar 1 is the first auto to carry the Polestar on the bonnet".

"But one of the genuine advantages of being a subsidiary of Volvo cars is that you have got 90 years of manufacturing experience and all the technology... people know how to build them, they know what needs to be done and they do what it takes to get cars from great design into production and do it successfully".

Cow on the loose near Prospect Park in Brooklyn
A baby cow is on the moo-ve in New York City! But like an elusive Lionel Moosi, this cow wasn't to be corralled so easily. A crowd of people gathered to take pictures of the animal after police trapped it in a fenced area of the park.

A monthly payment plan gets you access to the vehicle, covers insurance, and includes scheduled maintenance and detailing.

It went on to confirm that the 2 is in the engineering phase now, with plans to begin production by the end of 2019.

Polestar will offer its sport coupe through a car-subscriptions service, saying it will not operate any traditional dealerships.

What you see here is the first in this new range of electrified Polestars, creatively named the Polestar 1. Last month, the Chinese government told all auto makers, foreign and domestic, to start building EVs by 2019, having also outlined future plans to ban gasoline cars. The order books for the new Polestar 1 open on 17 October 2017, with Polestar able to take expressions of interest from prospective customers immediately.

The company expects to construct a maximum of 500 Polestar 1s a year in Chengdu, but to scale-up for future all-electric models.
