Women Detained As Passport Photos Look Different After Plastic Surgery

Earlier this week, an incredible photo of three puffy-faced Chinese women apparently stuck at a South Korean airport after plastic surgery left them unrecognizable took the Chinese internet by storm and was promptly picked up by numerous global media outlets to boot.

According the Chinese publication, Shanghaiist, the women were not allowed onto their return flight after security officials couldn't confirm that their faces post the surgery matched with those in their passports.

The Context Cards also has the information neatly arranged in different cards with each card showing related information. The feature has been rolled out in the U.S. , the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on both Android and iOS.

In the picture - which appears to have been removed from her account, but not before going viral - the women sit, passports in hand, faces swollen from the surgery and heavily bandaged.

This isn't the first Golden Week travel problem, either; a year ago, 100 Chinese tourists spent up to five days of their holiday stranded in an airport, having been denied entry to South Korea's Jeju Island. The airport authorities held them for further questioning. Another commented on their decision to go under the knife: "Why can't you just love yourself the way you are?" said News Asia.
