South Korea 'developing bomb to wipe out North Korea's power supply'

A South Korean military spokesman told the country's Yonhap news agency: 'All technologies for the development of a graphite bomb led by the Agency for Defence Development have been secured.

He added that the mission demonstrated the US resolve, and a message from President Donald Trump that the United States "has many military options to defeat any threat".

"I believe that North Korean special forces are adopting awesome methods of infiltration with limited resources", the official told Yonhap.

A visit to the DMZ would fit Trump's appetite for high theatrics, Bong Youngshik, a researcher at Yonsei University's Institute for North Korean Studies in Seoul, said by email.

The move to visit the demilitarized zone is not unprecedented - other USA presidents have done so in the past - but Trump's visit would come at the time tensions between North Korea and the US are at all-time high.
