Smoke looms over CSUF as Canyon Fire 2 burns through Anaheim Hills

The fire broke Monday before 11 a.m. and burned 25 acres. The damage assessment is ongoing.

Initially reported at 25 acres, the fire quickly exploded in size-so quickly that officials could not estimate its size by midday.

Shifting winds were top of mind for crews on Wednesday. The orders were then extended to Nohl Ranch Road and Canyon Rim. Anyone with large animals was instructed to take them to the Los Alamitos racetrack.

By Tuesday, "we're gonna be as stretched as we can be", said Steven Beech, an incident commander with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, according to the LA Times.

Over 5,000 homes across three cities were evacuated due to the rapid growth of the blaze.

McDonald's responded and said their "super limited batch, though well-intended, clearly wasn't near enough to meet the demand". Stores quickly ran out of their sauce supply - causing mini riots and an outpouring of complaints across social media.

The Canyon Fire 2 started Monday morning in the Anaheim Hills area.

Two High Schools are functioning as shelters for people, including El Modena High School, 3920 E. Spring St., in Orange; and Katella High School, 2200 E. Wagner Anaheim.

One of those evacuees was Alice Santos, who slept on one of the cots set up in the gymnasium.

Santiago Oaks Regional Park and Irvine Regional Park have been evacuated, and so has Yorba Regional Park so it can be used for firefighters, a county spokeswoman said.

CHP officials were working at day's end to open all but the right lane on the eastbound Riverside Freeway, Olivera said. She said she didn't get much sleep.

But the policies outlined by the White House on Sunday night are likely to push Democrats away from the negotiating table. This follows Trump's announcement last month the White House would begin "an orderly, lawful wind down" of DACA.

With between 3,000 and 4,000 residents potentially impacted, mandatory evacuations have been ordered in several areas around the fire (detailed in the map below).

"We always have adequate staffing", Lim said.

"We've got winds out here gusting up to 45 miles per hour, and that's what driving this fire".
