Sheriff: Vegas shooter shot guard before he fired on concertgoers

Originally, police said that Jesus Campos, a security guard at the Mandalay Bay, was shot by Paddock as he was opening fire on the concertgoers.

A handful of quick-thinking Las Vegas police officers may have prevented a thousand deaths after they stormed a hotel and killed the lone shooter, the Sheriff of America's gambling hub, who had visited Mumbai to study the 2008 terror attack, has said.

The personal effects being recovered were strewn across the massive grassy concert venue where 22,000 country music fans attended the Route 91 Harvest festival have become sentimental memories of loved ones for some and haunting reminders of the night of terror for others.

Meanwhile, the makeshift SWAT team of police officers who made it to Paddock's door at the Mandalay Bay hotel casino 12 minutes after the first shots were fired described how they got there and the "gun store" they found inside in an appearance on the CBS television program "60 Minutes" on Sunday night.

A few minutes later, Paddock began raining down bullets for 10 minutes in an attack that killed 58 people - the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history, Mr Lombardo said.

Kaepernick suggests report he would stand during anthem is a lie
La Canfora's original story was referenced by a few outlets, including the Associated Press (AP), who later issued a correction . The president told the crowd at the rally on September 22 that teams should fire players who kneel during the anthem.

"But what we have learned is that Mr. Campos was encountered by the suspect prior to his shooting to the outside world", Sheriff Lombardo said at a Monday news conference, his department's first update on the investigation in three days.

Lombardo said they have no evidence to show there was a second shooter.

Previously, officials credited Campos with stopping the assault.

"Every piece of information we get is one more piece of the puzzle in this case", Lombardo said.

The president of Mr. Campos's union did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday evening.

Hillary Clinton: 'Shocked and appalled' by Harvey Weinstein allegations
The offices of former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden declined to comment as well. Through his representative, Sallie Hofmeister, Weinstein denied "any allegations of non-consensual sex".

Police are continuing to search for clues to answer one of the burning questions that remains an unsolved mystery in the Las Vegas shooting massacre investigation - what motivated Paddock, 64, to carry out the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

Authorities have spoken to Paddock's brother and other family members, said Lombardo, who declined to discuss the interviews.

Sergeant Joshua Bitsko and Officer Dave Newton of the K9- unit had been training dogs when they heard the message over police radio about an active shooter.

Upon coming in range of rooms 32134 and 32135, Sheriff Lombardo claims Steven Paddock unloaded a "mass volley" consisting of more than 200 rounds into the hallway, striking Campos once in the leg with a ricocheted bullet.

"This individual purposefully hid his actions leading up to this event and it is hard for us to find the answers to those actions", Lombardo said. Last week, the police said the fuel tanks had been hit, but perhaps incidentally. The suspect, we know that he attempted to shoot at the fuel tanks, we know that he had some personal protection equipment in the room, we know that the vehicle that was found in the parking garage still, contained binary explosives. Explosive materials were also found in his auto.

Smoke looms over CSUF as Canyon Fire 2 burns through Anaheim Hills
Initially reported at 25 acres, the fire quickly exploded in size-so quickly that officials could not estimate its size by midday. CHP officials were working at day's end to open all but the right lane on the eastbound Riverside Freeway, Olivera said.

Lombardo said Paddock was drilling a wall near a doorway but didn't finish.
