In the interim, iPhone sales are still going strong, relatively speaking.

Apple's iPhone 8 is expected to go on sale in South Korea in early November with preorders beginning late this month, industry sources said Sunday. UBS AG reissued a "buy" rating and issued a $170.00 target price on shares of Apple in a research report on Monday, July 31st. Apparently, even Apple demonstrated the Animoji while unveiling the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. This appears to be a novelty instead of the incremental upgrade to the under-display fingerprint sensors. The Cupertino-based tech giant said that they are already aware of the situation and they are now "looking into" the problem.

As per Apple, they are investigating the issue.

The price of the iPhone 8 starts at $699, while the listed price tag for the 8 Plus starts at $799.

It seems to be like a case of faulty batteries in the new iPhones. Some of the units have arrived in that state straight out-of-the-box, while others split open after charging using Apple's official accessories.

The case comes after a number of reports across Asia revealed users had unboxed their iPhone 8 Plus, only to find it had popped open, with internal components visible.

The world's second-largest smartphone producer after Samsung Electronics already began delivering the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and 5.5-inch 8 Plus to the first batch of countries, including the United States, China and Japan, on September 22. A few defective units can't exactly be taken as proof of an epidemic since it's common to have a couple of faulty ones in a batch of millions.

The good news at this point is that there are no reports of iPhone 8 battery exploding. Longbow Research reaffirmed a "buy" rating and issued a $173.00 price objective on shares of Apple in a research note on Tuesday, June 13th.
