Castellanos, Giroud & Masuluke Named as Final Three for 2017 FIFA Puskás Award

Arsenal striker, Olivier Giroud, is one of three players whose goal has made it to the final stage of FIFA's Puskas Award for "the most attractive goal of the season".

The 31-year-old is up against teenager Deyna Castellanos and goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke for the "most attractive goal of the season" after his strike against Crystal Palace in January.

MOUSSA DEMBLE is no longer in the running for the Puskas Goal of the Year award.

In four seasons with the Giants - the final years of his career - Tittle led the team to a 32-13-3 record. Tittle retired following the 1964 season with 28,339 yards passing, 212 touchdowns and 221 interceptions.


The final three nominees are Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, South African goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke and Venezuela global Deyna Castellanos.

Giroud, meanwhile, makes the shortlist for his scorpion kick goal against Crystal Palace in the Premier League last season.

Castellanos' goal was a cheeky lob from the halfway line against Cameroon at the Under-17 Women's World Cup, while Masuluke was a last-minute bicycle kick equaliser for Baroka against Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership.

Masuluke did a special dance in celebrating the goal, but unbelievably, the out-of-this-world strike was not deemed good enough to be voted as the PSL Goal of the Season.

And Giroud's strike now leads a three-goal shortlist ahead of the annual Federation Internationale de Football Association awards after being up-voted by fans against nine other belters.

The public can vote for the award on FIFA's official website with the victor being announced on Monday October 23 at the award ceremony in London.
