Vice President Mike Pence leaves Colts game following anthem protest

Vice President Mike Pence left an NFL game Sunday after several players took a knee during the national anthem as part of a broad protest against racial injustice and police brutality.

In the National Football League, some players are choosing to kneel, rather than stand, when the anthem is played before games as a form of demonstration at police violence against African Americans.

Former governor of Indiana, Mike Pence had made a decision to attend the match of the Indianapolis Colts, to pay tribute to the former quarterback star Peyton Manning, who was to be honored at a ceremony Sunday. According to ESPN, the Colts wore black t-shirts affirming a commitment to "equality, justice, unity, respect, dialogue, and opportunity", and stood with arms locked during the anthem, rather than with the traditionally reverent hand-on-heart gesture.

To help with that switch, Google is releasing the Pixel Buds , wireless earbuds connected by a cable meant to go behind your head. Both the Pixel XL and the 5-inch Pixel will also get rid of the headphone jack, something Apple did with the iPhone a year ago .

President Donald Trump tweeted that he had told Pence to leave if there were protests. "I asked the vice-president Pence to leave the stage if players put a knee on the ground [during the national anthem], a lack of respect for our country", he wrote on his Twitter account.

The Vice President said he left in objection to an "event that disrespects our soldiers, our flag and our national anthem".

The second wave was dying down when Pence went back to his home state to see the Colts play in Lucas Oil Stadium and watch a number-retiring ceremony for former quarterback Peyton Manning, who played for the Colts for 13 years and won the team its only Super Bowl since it relocated to Indianapolis.

He said he was proud of Pence and his wife, Karen. "I stand with President Trump, I stand with our soldiers, and I will always stand for our Flag and our National Anthem".

He had previously tweeted a photograph of himself at a Colts game, adding he was "looking forward to cheering for our Colts".
