The American Red Cross is urging people to donate blood in the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

It can take 24 to 36 hours to collect, test, process and distribute blood where it's needed, the release said.

She's not alone, several others who felt moved by the tragedy also walked in to donate.

"I feel like it's a way of helping".

As of Tuesday, the Las Vegas operations of United Blood Services have been able to provide the blood needed by hospitals treating the victims.

Those eligible can make an appointment to give blood in the coming weeks and months by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
