Japan gets updated model of Sony's PSVR headset this month

Last September, Sony updated all PS4 systems with HDR capabilities but PSVR users had to unplug the external PSVR Processor Unit first in order to enjoy HDR content on their TV.

When the new headset arrives on store shelves it'll feature different box artwork and prominently display the model number so that people know what they're buying.

With model number CUH-ZVR 2, the PS VR 2 is getting ready for a grand launch and when it does it will have stereo earphones built into the headset.

Models of the PS VR bearing the CUH-ZVR2 number will have the updated features and design, with Sony planing on making the packaging different so that people can tell it apart from its predecessor. Unlike the old PSVR which debuted previous year, the new design does not require users to disconnect in order to view HDR content. Sony has, however, confirmed that there will be no change in the pricing of the new headset.

The Playstation 4 console is ageing already and has paved way for PS4 Pro to take its place with much better graphics, 4K gaming experience. On top of that, the connection cable has been made slimmer and more streamlined. We'll keep you updated should those regions receive the new edition. At the same time, the CUH-ZVR2's Processor Unit has also been updated with a new HDR pass through feature. Sony also hasn't mentioned if they will accept trade-ins for the new headset. Along with the headset, Playstation VR games also got a price cut.
