Two officers shot during incident in New Haven

Elm Street between Orchard and Sherman is closed. The officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to a city official.

Police say that as the two officers endeavored to locate the suspect, he professedly started shooting at them. She was taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition.

Two police officers were shot and injured by a gunman in CT on Saturday after responding to another shooting incident, CBS Hartford affiliate WFSB-TV reports.

The suspect, John Douglas Monroe, was arrested in the basement of the building. One man said he heard reports of a domestic shooting on his scanner radio.

Police believe the suspect remains inside the house and the SWAT team and hostage negotiators have been called in.
