Stoke could have one fit centre-back for Chelsea game - Hughes

Wenger watched his side book their place in the fourth round of the League Cup on Wednesday night with a 1-0 win over Doncaster at The Emirates.

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has explained that Tiemoue Bakayoko is fit to face Stoke City in their next Premier League tie despite being involved in a vehicle accident.

Stoke are a team that is hard to plan for under the best of circumstances, but Antonio Conte has to consider Chelsea's two big matches that follow in short order.

Kevin Wimmer is nursing a hamstring strain and could be one of four senior defenders unavailable for Stoke. I repeat: "for sure we want to thank him for his effort, not only last season but in the period that he played for Chelsea".

Hughes may be forced to field a number of peripheral first team players against former club Chelsea, with Glen Johnson likely to deputise alongside Erik Pieters, who has played exclusive at left wing-back this season.

Conte is well aware of the Potters' strengths and insists there is no way he will take the game lightly as Chelsea attempt to close the three-point gap to leaders Manchester City.

As reported by the club's official website, the Italian said: "It is now the right moment for Eden to start a game".

For Stoke boss Mark Hughes, the concerns are two-fold ahead of Saturday's game. Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, then against Manchester City in the league. We've got to look to Chelsea, pick ourselves up, learn from this and go again.

Stoke boss Hughes says he just loved the way Costa, no stranger to rubbing up opponents the wrong way, knew where to draw the line.

"We've been good at home. Beat Arsenal, drew with Manchester United and we've got to get back to that level of performance to do anything against Chelsea".
