President Trump, Kim Jong Un Exchange Insults Following Trump's Speech At UN

On the fringes of the UN General Assembly in New York, Kim's Foreign Minister told reporters that Pyongyang could launch a nuclear missile test in response.

North Korean foreign minister Ri Yong Ho said Friday that North Korea may test a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific.

The administration said in a statement on its website that the quake, which occurred around 4.29pm, was recorded a depth of 0km.

China hoped that Japan talked and acted cautiously and played a constructive role on the nuclear issue, he said.

Though official communications from North Korea are normally filled with bellicose remarks and often met with skepticism, the country's latest one appeared to take on a more overt personal tone, according to North Korea experts.

Acting U.S. Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific Susan Thornton slammed the whole notion of a North Korean hydrogen bomb test as "outrageous" and warned it would spark a "concerted and determined worldwide response".

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Thursday blasted President Trump as a "mentally deranged US dotard", warning he would "pay dearly" for his threats at the United Nations to destroy North Korea.

Kim Jong Un called Donald Trump "mentally deranged" after he called him "rocket man".

"Yes, it's unacceptable to silently watch North Korea's nuclear military adventures but it is also unacceptable to unleash war on the Korean Peninsula", he said.

USA analysts now estimate that North Korea may have as many as 60 nuclear weapons, according to a Washington Post report.

Kim ended his statement by saying he would surely and definitely tame Trump with fire.

North Korea has put the global community on alert over the past few months, conducting a slew of intercontinental ballistic missile tests and sending two over Japanese airspace.

Mr Trump had said: "The United States is ready, willing and able (to act), but hopefully this will not be necessary".

"We have no idea about what actions could be taken as it will be ordered by leader Kim Jong-un".

This week marked a new level of acrimony in a blistering war of words between Kim and Trump, with the USA leader using his maiden speech at the United Nations to warn that Washington would "totally destroy" the North if the U.S. or its allies were threatened.

Trump's broadside follows a rare statement by Kim, branding the United States president "deranged" and warning he will "pay dearly" for his threat to "totally destroy" the North if it attacks. Trump has also called out Hillary Clinton in response to her criticisms of his North Korea policy, accusing her of failing to act as Secretary of State while North Korea developed nuclear weapons.

It comes as European Union ambassadors agreed draft sanctions against North Korea, including a ban on investments in the country and on EU exports of oil.

Relations between the U.S. and North Korea has never been exactly friendly, but American presidents have generally adhered to diplomatic norms in avoiding personal attacks, even when they are making clear threats. It claimed that it had detonated a hydrogen bomb for an intercontinental ballistic missile.
