Jerry Jones Impeding Roger Goodell's Contract Extension

While Jones has made it no secret that he is furious about Elliott's suspension, Mortensen and Schefter report that his issue with Goodell's proposed extension is more about how much money the commissioner is making.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is reportedly doing his best to slow down Roger Goodell's latest contract negotiations, adding another awkward twist in the saga involving the Dallas Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott and the NFL. Jones has gained the support of enough owners that a discussion is being had about how to move forward with Goodell's extension.

"If not for Jerry, this deal would be done", Schefter said. Jones has stated repeatedly that Elliott did nothing wrong, and the league and player are in a prolonged back-and-forth that likely won't be settled this season.

Patriots fans did get a scare late in the third quarter when Gronkowski got up gingerly following a long pass reception. CB Marshon Lattimore, the Saints' No. 1 pick, was put under the concussion protocol after a fourth-quarter tackle.

Roger Goodell's contract with the National Football League expires in 2019, and a report from a month ago indicated the commissioner is close to tacking five more years onto the deal.

"If not for Jerry, this deal would be done", said one person familiar with Goodell's contract negotiations.

The increasingly edgy relationship between Jones and Goodell has sharpened to the point where Goodell's long-term future as NFL commissioner could come under fire, according to league sources.

Ryanair cancels about 2000 flights over six weeks
These problems "severely reduced our on-time performance over the past two weeks to under 80 percent", he said. Up to 9,000 passengers flying with the low-priced airline are set to be affected up until the end of October.

Jones is not a part of the NFL's six-man compensation committee, the group that decides Goodell's fate and contractual status.

Goodell has made more than $200 million since he became commissioner in 2006 and has overseen countless controversies since, ranging from Ray Rice's infamous two-game ban to the Deflategate war to the concussion crisis.

The next step for Goodell's contract talk comes Wednesday, when the committee has a conference call that's meant to wrap up a specific term proposal for Goodell.

Pandya, Dhoni rescue India
Earlier, India were off to a forgettable start with three of the top four batsmen back in the hut with only 11 runs on the board. Pandya tried to play against he spin, trying to slog him but managed only a top edge. "I'm not really concerned", Smith said.
