Chinese premier sends condolences to hurricane-hit Antigua and Barbuda

At a service to give thanks for the deliverance of the peoples of Antigua and Barbuda at Southwark Cathedral on Thursday evening Baroness Scotland recalled the major devastation experienced by six Commonwealth countries so far this year: Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone and now Barbuda.

"The damage is complete", says Ambassador Ronald Sanders, who has served as Antigua and Barbuda's ambassador to the U.S. since 2015.

The Ambassador to the U.S. for both islands, Ronald Sanders, told USA Today: 'There's not a single living person on the island of Barbuda - a civilization that has existed on that island for over 300 years has now been extinguished'.

PM Modi to inaugurate Sardar Sarovar Dam on his b'day tomorrow
Gujarat is expected to get 16 percent share, Madhya Pradesh 27 percent and the remaining 57 percent will go to Maharashtra. The current height of the dam is 138 metres that makes it the biggest structure ever made in the country.

While Barbuda (top) was ravaged by Hurricane Irma, Antigua was spared the brunt of the storm and left wet, but much less severely damaged. The population of Barbuda is 1,800 people, all of whom were evacuated in Antigua. The charity is also partnering with the Air Canada Foundation on rebuilding efforts in the Caribbean. According to assessments, the most urgent needs for islanders are food, water, and shelter.

On September 8, Browne launched a mandatory #evacuation order to move every resident to safety in Antigua, where they are living in government facilities and nursing homes under cramped conditions.

Rebuilding in such a manner would cost over $200 million, he said. But the government stated it is keeping a police and military presence on Barbuda. "We can not afford to take on this responsibility by ourselves". According to Sanders, Barbuda generates annual revenues of about Dollars 1 billion, but he thinks they will not be able to recover the island.

Anthem insurance to stay in area ACA market
To Democrats in Virginia, however, the blame for insurer exits should fall on President Donald Trump's administration. Anthem decided it "will sell Obamacare plans on and off the exchange in 68 counties".

Prime Minister Gaston Browne called it "just miraculous" that only one person died due to the disaster. He said their government simply can not afford it. Browne went on to say that they hope worldwide partners and friendly governments will come forward to assist the island.

"We have declared a state of emergency in Barbuda because it is a complete disaster and uninhabitable", he says.

"We believe climate change is here to stay - it's a reality, despite all of the naysayers", he concluded.

Some 6.7 million customers still without power after Irma
He asked customers to continue to have patients as in some cases, workers are going house to house to restore power. In a release, the company states they will not offer to expedite power restoration for an additional fee.
