Mrs Brown was born on March 10, 1900, just a few miles from her fellow Jamaican Usain Bolt.

Declaring that "the best time is now", Brown said she was enjoying life and is not sitting around waiting to die.

Andrew Holness, Jamaica's Prime Minister, tweeted last night: "Our oldest person in the world Mrs". Ms Brown says it was eating cows' feet, reading the Bible and staying away from rum that kept her going.
