Mason Rudolph deserves more Heisman love after record-setting performance

Mason Rudolph deserves more Heisman love after record-setting performance

It was the longest active streak in FBS.

The Panthers' other score came when freshman cornerback Jason Pinnock fell on the ball in the end zone after Oklahoma State punter Zach Sinor fumbled a snap. He just made a lot of plays. By that time, Rudolph will hopefully have gotten his due. James Washington added 124 yards receiving.

Washington was one of a school-record four receivers with at least 100 receiving yards on Saturday, joined by Jalen McCleskey (seven receptions for 162 yards and three touchdowns), Dillon Stoner (5-100-1) and Marcell Ateman (4-109-1). Cowboys CB Madre Harper was dismissed from the team and WR Tyron Johnson was suspended for the game for violations of team rules.

The Cowboys reached the end zone on each of their first seven possessions, including a pair of touchdown runs by Justice Hill.

Tanner Lee threw two touchdowns in first quarter … to Northern Illinois
They no doubt missed starting running back Tre Bryant, who was injured a week ago, but the biggest issue was the offensive line. Fortunate or unfortunate, Nebraska took its first lead with 11:14 remaining on Lee's 1-yard quarterback sneak.

NOTES: Oklahoma State QB Tyler Cornelius saw his first extensive action of the season.

Rudolph obviously did an outstanding job spreading the ball around.

And at halftime, Pitt was looking for a way to keep it from thinning further. Pitt's defense appears to be on the upswing in coach Pat Narduzzi's third year. This year, they're making Mason Rudolph and Oklahoma State look like they're playing a video game on the lowest level of difficulty. The rematch was a mismatch. Browne is averaging just 7.72 yards per completion through two weeks by relying heavily on quick passes and shovel passes.

Series record: Oklahoma State leads 1-0.

Adopted son of Jerry Sandusky pleas guilty to sexual abuse charges
His lawyer didn't immediately answer a request for comment from The Post, and it's unclear when his sentence will be set. Just as he had defended his father, Jeffrey Sandusky's mother defended him, Cindy Boren wrote for The Post .

The Cowboy's 49 points in the first half were the most given up by Pitt since it allowed 52 in the first half of a 72-0 loss to Ohio State in 1996.

Rudolph now has eight touchdown passes on the young season as Oklahoma's offense continues to steamroll opponents. By the time Washington caught his first pass, a seven-yard hookup midway through the second quarter, Oklahoma State was already up five touchdowns. Pitt OL Brandon Hodges (undisclosed injury) did not play after leaving the game against Penn State last week in the first half.

Taming the Panthers is nothing new for Rudolph, who tossed a career-high 540 yards and two scores in a 45-38 win over Pitt in Stillwater nearly exactly one year ago.

Oklahoma State, however, will face its biggest test to date next week against TCU. Cowboys have won two straight over the Horned Frogs.
