San Jose filing lawsuit to challenge Trump's DACA plan

A Justice Department official said Thursday that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is considering extending the deadline for some young immigrants to reapply for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) protections.

DACA wasn't passed by the legislative branch but by President Obama through an executive order, which Trump called in a statement, "an end-run around Congress" that "violat (ed) the core tenets that sustain our Republic". Earlier this month, President Donald Trump announced that he would end the DACA program at the end of March. Only Congress can do that.

"We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that's acceptable to both sides", Pelosi and Schumer said in their joint statement. "And I didn't think they did before". So we're working on a plan, we'll see how it works out.

Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi have said that in their meeting with the president on Wednesday both political parties have "agreed" to work on DACA, CNN reported.

Sarah Sanders, White House press secretary, confirmed the discussions and said, "While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to".

Bangladesh already was housing some 500,000 Rohingya who fled earlier flashes of violence including anti-Muslim riots in 2012. ARSA says it is fighting to protect Rohingya Muslims from persecution in Buddhist-majority Myanmar.

"Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military, really?"

After Wednesday's dinner, White House and Democratic staff sought to clarify what came from the meeting.

The DREAM Act is a bipartisan bill that would not just protect the DACA recipients from deportation, but also give them a way to earn citizenship.

The headline "Amnesty Don" led the website Breitbart, run by Mr. Trump's former chief strategist, Stephen K. Bannon.

He also said Republican congressional leaders, House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky favored his approach on the immigration program. But most undocumented immigrants aren't seeking citizenship, he said - just the ability to work without fear of deportation.

"Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent".

"The president wasn't negotiating a deal last night. And so that's what we're going to give a shot", he said.

"We belong here, this is where our heart is and this is all we've know", Gomez said.

Trump hopes to use the so-called DREAMers as leverage to fulfill his campaign promises for tougher border security and immigration enforcement. Some also wondered aloud on Thursday whether the president was aware of the minutiae of the DREAM Act legislation discussed on Wednesday, including the fact that it includes an eventual path to citizenship.

Last week Trump infuriated many in his party when he reached a three-month agreement with Schumer and Pelosi to raise the debt ceiling, keep the government running and speed relief to states impacted by recent hurricanes.
