Bruins sign Pastrnak to 6-year contract worth $40M

The 21-year-old Pastrnak set career-highs in goals (34), assists (36), and points (70) last season, and his 44 point increase from 2016 to 2017 was the third-highest improvement among National Hockey League skaters, behind the Oilers' Connor McDavid and Nashville forward Viktor Arvidsson.

David Pastrnak has reportedly agreed to a 6-year deal with the Boston Bruins, according to TSN reporter Darren Dreger.

Yet the Bruins and Pastrnak remained far apart on a potential deal all summer long, after Edmonton signed 21-year-old center Leon Draisaitl to an eight-year deal worth $8 million per year. The Bruins took him with the 25th pick of the first round in the 2014 draft.

Pastrnak had 34 goals and 36 assists in the 2016-2017.
