Wenger reveals why he chose Arsenal over Man Utd offer

Former United chairman Martin Edwards has revealed in his new autobiography that Wenger was being lined up to replace Ferguson, who had initially announced he would retire at the end of the 2001/2 season.

The Gunners got their season back on track this weekend with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates after suffering a 4 - 0 defeat to Liverpool in the match before.

SportBild also claim that Ozil has not received an offer of £250,000 a week from Arsenal, despite widespread reports.

But despite these challenges, Wenger is upbeat at their chances of securing a first league title since 2004.

The invasion came after Cavani had put the French side 3-0 up towards the end of the first half at Celtic Park. It was a chastening experience for Celtic , and their heaviest ever home defeat in European competition.

While Ferguson would take United to six more Premier League titles before retiring at the end of 2012-13, Wenger says he has been able to evolve the Arsenal mentality during his career in London.

"Because we have played three games, and two away games? But we have to win at home and you know how it is when you don't win at home". "They can all have an opinion on the manager and the players, it's their right".

But Wenger appeared unconvinced their position had improved over the summer.

"For a while we thought there was a possibility of him joining us". Thursday to Sunday morning is short so I have to think about that.

It would also bring a host of problems, given the malnourished state of many of North Korea's people and its poor health system. It also allows states to inspect vessels on the high seas suspected of carrying items prohibited by the sanctions regime.

"We had contrasting periods of the season past year".

"What matters is that on the pitch we give the maximum to prove that money is not everything".

"Last year we made 75 points, we won the FA Cup and this year we have to do better".

The team were in danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League and ultimately finished fifth, instead reaching the Europa League.
