Mutko says WADA shares blame for Russian doping violations

The World Anti-Doping Agency WADA has no idea of the exact whereabouts of the former chief of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov - the main informer of the author of the report on doping in Russian sports, Richard McLaren, WADA President Craig Reedie told TASS.

WADA has agreed to clear 95 of the 96 unnamed athletes whose cases have been reviewed in the investigation, the New York Times reported Tuesday citing an internal recent report circulated among the organization's executives.

Three riders who were prevented from competing in the Rio Olympics a year ago as a result of doping allegations against Russian Federation have launched legal action against the World Anti Doping Agency WADA and the Canadian doping investigator Dr Richard McLaren.

WADA last month called on Russian authorities responsible for anti-doping to publicly accept the findings of the McLaren Investigation, which uncovered widespread state-sponsored doping at the Sochi Olympics. McLaren's report into state-sponsored doping concluded that they had positive test results covered up by Russian Federation, but the trio have claimed they were 'unfairly implicated'.

Rodchenkov was himself under investigation in Russian Federation in 2011 over illegal steroid sales, and is now living in hiding in the United States.

His absence contributed to Wada's decision that "the available evidence was insufficient to support the assertion of an ADRV (anti doping rule violation) against these 95 athletes".
