Liam Neeson says his days as an action hero are over

Due to his age, Neeson has opted to retire from any future action-thriller roles and instead focus on more serious roles, such as his turn in Martin Scorsese's historical drama Silence. According to the actor, he wants to work on more "serious" projects, and also says that he thinks he's getting too old to believably headline such fare.

Turning his back on movies like Taken, Run All Night, Non-Stop, and The Grey won't be easy, though, as Neeson admits that studios are "still throwing serious money" at him to do cheap and easy thrillers where he just has to scowl and wave a gun around. "I'm like, 'Guys, I'm sixty-f--ing-five.' Audiences are eventually going to go, 'Come on'".

With almost a dozen action movies under his belt, Neeson has a final two in the pipeline which will be released in the coming months. Along with the Taken trilogy, Neeson spent the better part of the 2000's shooting bad guys and saving the day as a badass vigilante who audiences couldn't get enough of, but his gunslinging days are sadly coming to a close.

Hard Power will find Neeson playing a snowplow driver who faces off with drug dealers, and in The Commuter, the actor will play a business man caught up in a criminal conspiracy during his drive home. He continued: "I've shot one that's going to come out in January sometime. That's it. But not Taken, none of that franchise stuff".
