THE last Chandni Jain's family saw of the 17-year-old was Saturday evening.

The owner of the land noticed the body and alerted the police.

Well, now the Police are treating it as a case of murder.

After the body was found, Police detained her former schoolmate Sai Kiran based on CCTV footage. While recalling the vivacious 12th grader's days in school, Seetha Murthy, principal of Silver Oaks said that the management had independently probed the matter following Chandni's sudden disappearance. When she did not return home till late in the night, the family lodged a complaint with police. The parents tried to reach her through phone but the mobile is switched off.

Since the parents first approached Miyapur police, a case of kidnapping was registered, as she was a minor. The body was in burnt state and the police circulated the photos to other police stations.

Kiran wanted to end the relationship but Jain persisted on continuing it, police said. But he is not interested in marrying her postpone the topic for several times. The deceased pressurised Sai Kiran to marry her.
