Christoper Columbus Statue Vandalized in NYC With Blunt Message:

The Christopher Columbus Statue in Central Park was discovered vandalized Tuesday morning. There was also a paper sign on the base reading "Save your soul".

Workers quickly began cleaning up the mess. The left hand of Columbus was painted red and several stickers were attached.

Recent events such as the violent protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, have reignited attention on contentious monuments across the country. Recently statues dedicated to the explorer Columbus have come under discussion, with many saying he brutalized and enslaved indigenous people while on his travels.
