Chainsaw MASS-acre: Nun gets stuck in to clear Hurricane Irma debris

In an interview with CNN, Sister Margaret Ann told host Erin Burnett why she chose to pitch in.

"We teach our students: Do what you can to help other people, don't think of yourselves", she said during a live interview on CNN's "OutFront".

"He said, 'You know though, Sister, the police will do this.' And I said, 'But it's going to take them too long... it's unsafe, people are going to get hurt here, '" she recalled.

Sister Margaret Ann - clad in her nun's habit - was spotted using the tool to cut into a tree that had been felled by Hurricane Irma.

Sister Margaret works at Archbishop Coleman F Carroll High School in West Kendall, where chainsaws were "sitting in a closet" and "needed to be used".

One person said: 'I mean hey.gotta admit nuns [sic] are cool!'

Video of her wielding a chainsaw while cleaning up hurricane debris has caught the attention of the nation.

"The community will come out and help us".

"It became a really good community project", she said. The officer took a photo and a video of the nun in action.
