Behold 'the Fyre Festival Of Pizza'

Behold 'the Fyre Festival Of Pizza'

Over the weekend, cheese-loving New Yorkers headed to Bushwick for the much-anticipated (on Facebook) New York City Pizza Festival, an al fresco event that promised "pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, sausage, black olives, bacon, green peppers, extra cheese, plain or even experimental combos. pizza for taste buds of all types!"

Prior to what Gothamist has now dubbed "the Fyre Festival of NYC food events", attendees were promised a "day long celebration of the dough, cheese, tasty sauces and delicious toppings".

One attendee who had paid $150 (£113) for a pair of VIP tickets told Gothamist, "It was like the people from Fyre Festival made a decision to throw a pizza party". Burke spent $150 for two tickets to the festival and planned to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday there.

Ishmael Osekre posted a message on the event's Facebook page Wednesday morning saying, "we have agreed on REFUNDING ALL TICKETS from the pizza and burger festivals". A make-up tasting will be announced shortly.

A day after the NY Attorney General's office opened an inquiry into the Pizza (and Hamburger) Festival fiasco that attendees likened to Fyre Festival, disappointed attendees may have restitution on the horizon. Complaints can be submitted on the Attorney General Office's website.

Some people who contacted the Pizza Festival organisers were told that Hangry Garden, a party supply and rental shop, was to blame. Around 7:45 p.m., organizers posted on the event's Facebook page, "Hi guys, we've been hit by an incredible amount of delays in pizza delivery".

"This was a rotten scam, they promoted this as a pizza festival and a hamburger festival", one person said in a post.

"The organizers should be held accountable", they said. "I imagined it would be like, Roberta's has a brick oven pizza that they tow, there'd be all these different vendors, all this different kind of pizza".

Why AIADMK general council meet has added confusion to the air
This was also made evident by the title mentioned on the resolution copy which only carried the factions' names and not of AIADMK. Earlier in the day, Dhinakaran removed Dindigul C Srinivasan from the post of AIADMK party treasurer and appointed M.

Attendees were so outraged by the festival they created a separate Facebook group titled: "Pizza Festival Scam Victims".

"We were hired as a vendor for our furniture and games".

"Timely delivery of food delayed the fun experience we all looked forward to", Aputumpu told an attendee.

Another event organizer - Brooklyn-based blog group Aputumpu - claimed the late start is what led to the pizza being cold and unsatisfactory.

Redrawing Texas Voting Maps Put On Hold; Texans Turn To Alternative Medicine
The constitutional fights over claims of racial gerrymandering in Texas have been waged for six years in the San Antonio court. The district court disagreed, reasoning that discrimination from the 2011 maps had carried over in the interim plan.

For those who stuck it out, eventually slivers of a handful of pizzas and "warm red wine that tasted like ass" were distributed. Over 30,000 people said they'd be attending.

"We couldn't be part of it, of course, because we're not going to do an event for free".

"Organizers should be charged with fraud", one guest wrote on Facebook at the time.

The anonymous calls came from Internet dialling systems and couldn't easily be traced, official news agencies reported. Many were city halls, schools and other official buildings, according to local news reports.
