Arsene Wenger: 'Alexis Sanchez will win the fans back'

Danny Welbeck's finishing has drawn criticism in the past yet he showed composure to score two excellent goals against a vulnerable Cherries defence.

There were plenty of positives to take from Arsenal's 3-0 win over Bournemouth last Saturday, although the victory over a side who have lost their first four games of the season has to be put in context.

The first involved some fortune as Sead Kolasinac's cross came off his shoulder, but the second was a flawless finish into the far corner from a tight angle to kill the game off in the second half. "People are not convinced that he is a great finisher, but these kinds of goals will help him become more relaxed in front of goal".

"He will win the fans back, and win them back very quickly".

Mesut Ozil went close to doubling the Gunners' lead but his curling freekick was well saved by Asmir Begovic before Granit Xhaka fired over.

"He gets stronger and stronger".

"Let's not forget that he was out for a long time", Wenger said of Welbeck.

"Yes. I love my players, that's true, but I want them to play for the club and for themselves as well".

Alexis Sanchez will "win the fans back quickly" after playing for Arsenal for the first time since nearly joining Manchester City on transfer deadline day, says boss Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners bounced back from the Liverpool defeat by spanking Bournemouth 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday to banish their frightful performance at Anfield.

A majority of the crowd serenaded him, however, and Wenger insisted that the boos had not affected the forward.

Welbeck added on his efforts to find full fitness and form: "The past two years I didn't have a pre-season and that made it a bit hard for me, so I'm pleased to have a pre-season. But the best way to get people on your side is to perform", Wenger said.

Bradford outperformed Drew Brees who was 27-for-37 for 291 yards and one touchdown. "I'm on to the next play". Tight end Kyle Rudolph added a touchdown reception in the second half for Minnesota (1-0).

Welbeck's second goal was praised by manager Arsene Wenger and Welbeck reckons his preparations have allowed him to hit the ground running this year. "The interpretation of the attitude is always very risky".

"I looked at today's performance and didn't see what I wanted to see".

"Overall I believe that we had a committed, disciplined and offensively very good performance".

Next up for Arsenal is their opening Europa League fixture against Bundesliga outfit Cologne.

However, his injury could open a path for Jack Wilshere back into the squad.

"Jack is getting stronger and stronger", Wenger said. Welbeck had numerous chances to complete his hat-trick, Ozil fired narrowly wide and substitute Francis Coquelin had a goal-bound effort blocked on his 100th Arsenal appearance.
