Pizza Hut bashed after store threatened workers fleeing Irma

People are calling a Florida Pizza Hut a variety of unkind names after the location casually threatened to punish staff who evacuated for Hurricane Irma.

"If evacuating, you will have a 24-hour period before storm "grace period" to not be scheduled", the manager told employees via a note posted to the company wall.

Following the rage, Pizza Hut apologized through a statement that said, "We are uncompromising in our commitment to the safety and well-being of our team members". "You can not evacuate Friday for a Tuesday storm event!" said a memo from the manager.

In a notice to employees that was circulated on Twitter, the manager wrote, "As a general rule of thumb, we close stores 6-12 hours before storm hits".

"Failure to show for these shifts, regardless of reason, will be considered a no call/no show and documentation will be issued, " it read.

The note also says that, in the event of an evacuation, workers "MUST" return within 72 hours.
