NHC: Hurricane Jose not a concern to the US

The storm had maximum sustained winds of 100 miles per hour with gusts up to 120 miles per hour.

The ultimate track of Hurricane Jose over the next week-to-10 days is a big question mark, or more literally, a loop.

While Irma was unleashing fury the past few days Jose was strengthening into a formidable Category 4 hurricane, normally something that would be the headliner for surfers in the Atlantic. The storm is moving northeast at about 6 miles per hour.

As per weather experts, hurricane Jose is a slow-moving storm and they will have to monitor the storm for quite a number of days from now.

Jose's future after Friday is where it gets complicated.

Ten days is still a long way off from being able to predict an accurate storm area, but meteorologists warn that the East Coast is likely to at least experience rainfall and strong rip currents from Jose.

These prediction models put Jose anywhere from SC to Newfoundland, or Jose could even move back out into the ocean. "None of the computer models, at this point, have it headed toward our state".

The forecast after that is less certain, with some models suggesting the storm will loop toward the north and northeast and other models having it move west toward the Bahamas.

Hurricane Irma cuts power to more than 7 million homes and businesses
FPL says that 19,500 workers, including contractors and employees, are working to restore power to affected users. But officials say it is the water and not the winds that people should fear most.

Later next week, it could impact the Bahamas, the East Coast of the U.S., or it could turn back into the sea.
