Mother Of Woman Found In Hotel Freezer Claims Police Didn't Do Enough

Authorities confirmed that police are investigating the viral video that appears to show Kenneka Jenkins seated on a bed in a hotel room hours before she disappeared.

A Chicago teen was found dead in a hotel's walk-in freezer, a day after she went missing from a party she attended with friends.

Jenkins' friends, Martin said, told her the young woman disappeared after they briefly left her alone in the hotel hallway to retrieve her auto keys and cellphone from the room.

Jenkins' body was discovered in a walk-in freezer in the hotel around 12:24 a.m. Sunday, according to police, and she was pronounced dead on the scene. The staff referred her to police, but dispatchers told her to wait a few hours, because she could still simply be out with friends.

Detectives are aware that this Facebook Live video exists and they are looking into it. "Since this is still under investigation, there isn't much I can say".

"She was so drunk-that was his exact words-she was so drunk she couldn't hold herself up". She claimed that Jenkins would not have been able to open the heavy freezer door on her own and that she would have been able to realize that she was not in an elevator.

"Those were double steel doors, she didn't just pop them open", she said. "And the police department said, 'Freak accidents like that do happen'". "Sometimes people keep refrigerators on all the time even if they're unused", he said.

"We were begging for help, and no one was helping", Jenkins said. "Them bastards! They couldn't even help us!" Social media users have been using the hashtag #KennekaJenkins to share theories of what happened to the woman, with many accusing her friends of foul play. Investigators allowed Jenkins' sister to look at surveillance video, which showed her entering, but never leaving, the hotel. In it, Jenkins appears to be sitting on the bed with a group of people around her, leading numerous video's 4 million viewers to believe there was foul play involved in her death.

"Rosemont spokesman Gary Mack told the Tribune that they are reviewing the Facebook video and "all the other social media videos and posts" that might be relevant to the case."[Investigators] are leaving no stone unturned as far as trying to corral everyone they can and talk to them and interview them about what happened and what was going on that night", he told the paper. Mack said he's not sure if the freezer had been turned on, and investigators are not saying who found the body.
