Hurricane Irma knocked out power to over 1.3 million homes and businesses in south Florida on Sunday and threatened to leave millions more in the dark as it marched up the state's west coast through the rest of the day. A Florida man says that his Facebook event inviting people to shoot at Hurricane Irma was a joke that got out of hand and that he never expected anyone to take his suggestion seriously.

Forecasters expect Irma's core to come ashore Sunday and strike the Keys, southwestern Florida and the Tampa Bay region, which hasn't felt a major hurricane since 1921.

This is for the potential of life-threatening, 5-10 feet of storm surge from Hurricane Irma as it moves closer to Florida.

Okami HD coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One

The governor warned that Irma "is like" Hurricane Andrew, which hit Florida 25 years prior.

Irma lost its hurricane strength at 8:00 this morning and is now a tropical storm producing gusty winds and rain in Georgia, Alabama and SC.

The massive storm triggered evacuation orders for 5.6 million people, and made two landfalls Sunday. The National Hurricane Center projected that the storm would make a meandering loop between Monday and Thursday before continuing on a path west toward the Bahamas, Cuba and Florida.

For the entire week, meteorologists said rain totals in West Virginia would not exceed one inch.

John Ward, the emergency operations manager of Clay County, says crews have pulled 46 people from flooded homes by early Monday and an undetermined number are still stranded as the area's creeks and ponds are getting record flooding.
