The United Nations on Monday unanimously agreed on its toughest sanctions against North Korea, setting limits on its oil imports and banning its textile exports.

"So we've got to work at this problem and bring about a diplomatic solution that stops the development of North Korea's nuclear programme and enforces the sanctions we have at the moment".

A tougher initial U.S. draft was weakened to win the support of China, Pyongyang's main ally and trading partner, and Russian Federation, both of which hold veto power in the council.

The resolution asks countries around the world to inspect ships going in and out of North Korea's ports but does not authorize the use of force for ships that do not comply.

Apart from the oil and textile ban, the sanctions have also put a ceiling on the deliveries of refined oil products to Pyongyang and also limit crude oil shipments to the current level.

I liked his second goal today, because it's really clean finishing for any goalscorer. "That was not very good, I've got to be honest", Howe said.

On September 3, North Korea continued to rattle its global neighbors, conducting its sixth and most powerful nuclear test.

Following the vote, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley portrayed North Korea as increasingly isolated.

Republican Rep. Ed Royce, the committee chairman, said efforts by the USA and its allies to counter the threat from North Korea nuclear and missile programs should be "super-charged".

Security Council diplomats, who weren't authorized to speak publicly because talks have been private, told The Associated Press the US and China were still negotiating the text late Sunday.

The US had initially proposed a complete oil embargo and also said that the foreign accounts of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un should be frozen.

Andray Abrahamian, a Visiting Fellow at the Jeju Peace Research Institute, said the North Korea's call for recognition as a nuclear state was "a non-proposal proposal".

Trump is set to attend the US-ASEAN summit and the East Asia summit in the Philippines in November, as well as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam.

North Korea says it needs ballistic and nuclear weapons to defend itself and regularly threatens the United States, including recently by saying it would conduct ballistic missile tests near Guam, the location of a major USA military base.

Haley said these are by far the strongest measures ever imposed on North Korea.

The original US draft would also have frozen the assets of North Korea's state-owned airline Air Koryo, the Korean People's Army and five other powerful military and party entities. The two countries have veto power on the council and don't typically go along with the harshest sanctions on North Korea.
