Delta to cancel about 800 flights due to Irma

Tampa International Airport also is closed as Hurricane Irma moves up the Florida peninsula.

More than 3,800 US flights scheduled for Monday were canceled by late morning, and more than 9,000 since Saturday, according to tracking service FlightAware.

- Hurricane warnings were extended north along Florida's west coast as far as Perry, and along the eastern coast to include Fernandina Beach, north of Jacksonville.

Airport leaders also issued a reminder that RSW is not a public shelter.

Air Canada: Canceled all fights through Monday.

The airline said earlier yesterday it planned to begin limited operations today after 5pm, but reversed course after the Miami airport said it would remain closed today.
