A 32-year-old women was killed after a auto was driven at speed into a group of anti-fascist protesters and two policemen died in a helicopter crash while taking part in efforts to restore peace to the area.

A 32-year-old woman, who was named on Sunday as Heather Heyer, a legal assistant with a law firm in Virginia, was killed when an Ohio-registered vehicle ploughed into a group of counter-protesters.

Twenty-year-old James Fields from OH, the alleged driver, is in detention on suspicion of second-degree murder and the FBI has opened a civil rights investigation. He is due in court on Monday.

The president hasn't addressed the matter on Sunday. They clashed with counterprotesters, culminating on Saturday with a man ramming a vehicle through the counterprotesters.
