One Killed, 19 Injured After Car Plows Through Charlottesville Crowd During Protest

Mayor Mike Signor announced the death on his Twitter account and urged people to "go home".

On Saturday, Charlottesville saw a major rally of far-right nationalists dubbed "Unite the Right" which subsequently led to the unrest. Authorities said the injuries range from minor to life-threatening.

Before the group left the university's grounds when police arrived and ruled it unlawful assembly, outraged city and UVA officials condemned Friday's gathering.

Witnesses say a vehicle plowed into a crowd of people who were protesting the rally, which was held by white nationalists who oppose the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee by the city of Charlottesville.
