Moyes: I planned to sign Bale, Kroos and Fabregas for Man Utd

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he will not "moan or cry" if the club do not sign any more players this summer.

Leicester and Chelsea won the previous two Premier League titles in campaigns without European football, while Liverpool's top-four finish last season came in similar circumstances, but this time around all of last season's top seven are in the Champions League or Europa League.

Mourinho knows they were over-reliant on the injured ex-Swedish striker's goals and wants more support for this season's main man Romelu Lukaku.

"In my initial analysis from January and through the months I was thinking of four players but I'm not a hard person to work with in spite of if you make it look different", he said at his pre-match presser. "I spent quite a bit of time with him and his family and I think if I had been there at the end of the season, I'm a hundred per cent sure Toni Kroos would have been a Manchester United player and not a Real Madrid player".

The United boss is aiming higher this time, and wants the 35-year-old to be a part of that effort.

United kick off their League season on Sunday against West Ham United.

"Conte is a fantastic coach too, because he won everything at Juventus and has already won the Premier League in his first year with Chelsea".

Willian and Mourinho remain on good terms, greeting each other warmly before matches between Chelsea and United, and the 29-year-old said Mourinho asked about bringing him to United before any move was blocked.

However, Mourinho has lost a number of key players to long-term injury, including defenders Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw, and wing-back Ashley Young.

Such absentees means the United boss does not believe they have advanced hugely compared with this time a year ago, but he retains hope of making a fourth summer signing.

"They need better in there, they need more dynamic better quality player in that central midfield area".

Mourinho added: "We got a central defender that can play in many other positions, which is important". "I'd say seven teams to fight for the title and 20 teams to fight for the victory every weekend, every match".

Slater: Manchester duo poised to challenge Chelsea for title
City's away form was impressive last season, earning more points on the road than any team apart from eventual champions Chelsea . This will probably be the last season in Spurs colours for the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

"The Premier League is what you all know", he said.
