Kashmir: One civilian killed after Pakistan violates ceasefire in Poonch district

A woman was killed when Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged firing and shelling in Mendhar sector of the Poonch district early Saturday. He hailed from Tarsana village in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.

"Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively", the spokesperson said, adding Naib Subedar Jagram Singh Tomar was grievously injured in the exchange of fire. He was shifted to 425 Army Hospital in Poonch. Identified as Raqia Bi of Gohlad Kalran in Mendhar sector, sources said that she became a victim to a Pakistani shell which fell near her house. "The Pakistani army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatic weapons and mortars from 5".

A Police Media spokesman confirmed there had been "some sort of incident" but details were sketchy. A man and woman who escaped the wreckage suffered only minor injuries.

A lady was killed when Pakistan damaged truce in Jammu and Kashmir's Mendhar part at 5:30 am on Saturday.

"They remained confined to their homes and once the firing and shelling subsided, they moved to underground bunkers for safety", he said.

This year, Pakistani forces have carried out 301 incidents of unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

At least nine soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two civilians were killed in Pakistani troops firing and mortar shelling along the LoC last month. The cross-border firing often leads to the deaths of soldiers and civilians on either side.

And it also fits into a long-running pattern of White House officials undermining one another, both privately and publicly. Ben Cardin, the Foreign affairs committee's top Democrat, compared Trump's comments to those issued by North Korea itself.
