Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp get into argument over Virgil van Dijk

LIVERPOOL drew with Watford in their first Premier League game of the season today - here are our Reds player ratings after the match.

The Reds conceded three very bad goals as they drew 3-3 in today's early kick-off against Watford at Vicarage Road.

And Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports, has noted that the 24-year-old's presence will help solve United's malaise in front of goal against lesser sides this season. No matter which defenders they buy or how much they cost - it won't make a difference.

Trump praises new United Nations sanctions on North Korea

He has already got off the mark in a red shirt, complimenting the three goals he scored over pre-season with a 62nd minute strike against Real Madrid on his competitive debut.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes the addition of summer target Virgil van Dijk won't be an immediate solution to the club's defensive issues.

Redknapp said: "I look at that Liverpool back four and there's a reason why they concede so many goals because they're disorganised and they have no leaders at the back". What have they worked on? You think, 'what are your weaknesses?' - set-pieces, getting done on the counter-attack. Watford should've been one-nil up before the corner, nothing changes. That's what happened on the first goal - it comes from a counter-attack. What have they done?

And Ramos told a news conference ahead of the match in Macedonia: "I don't think it [working with Mourinho] changed my career". Today, Jose Mourinho has confirmed his interest in signing Gareth Bale ....

"If you're Van Dijk's agent you've got another 20 grand a week on his contract after watching that". However, this throwaway remark from the former Liverpool skipper sparked a heated debate with Carragher.

"One man isn't going to improve [set-piece defending], that has got to come down to the manager", he added. There's talk about Van Dijk coming in, yeah okay he's a good player, but it's from the side of the pitch, it's the way Liverpool set up.
